Aeolian Duo
Aeolian Duo is inspired by naturally occuring
wind harps. For the performance of the work,
the score is both strict and free. It is written
for two sustaining instruments. The
instruments must be able to create sustained
tones that shift in pitch and amplitude (so,
naturally, no piano). The audience are
amplitude followers. They are provided whirly
tubes, and should be standing on stage, while
the instrumnetal performers are situated in
the audience. Half of the audience follow
Instrument 1 and the other half follow
Instrument 2 . The audience are a reaction to
the amplitude changes of their respecective
Instrument leader, so they are an extension
of what their instrument leader is doing. Their
reaction time will be slightly delayed, and this
is how the piece is written and should be.
